Autumn is definitely in the air and the members of One Craft Gallery have been busy making lots of beautiful new things with new stock arriving all the time. We are open from 10am until 5pm from Monday through to Saturday so do pop in and say hello!
One Craft Gallery is now running a loyalty scheme. Collect one stamp on your loyalty card for every £10 you spend with us and when you have collected 10 stamps you will receive a £5 gift voucher.
One Craft Gallery has joined MyHigh. This is a shopping website exclusively for independent retailers. Shepton Mallet now has its own virtual high street enabling shoppers to shop at their local shops 24 hours a day. The website can be accessed through the links page.
Every month we have guest artists featuring their work in the gallery.
Throughout October and November we have a selection of steampunk accessories and prints by Sally Jacob and textiles from local maker Monica Cock - more information about their work can be found on the guest page.
Why Buy From Us
One Craft Gallery is different from most other shops and galleries that you will find on the high street. It is a cooperative, stocked, staffed and run by a small group of local craftspeople.
Whenever you enter the shop you will be served by one of the craftspeople whose work is in the shop. This provides you with a valuable opportunity to talk to them about what they do and to build relationships with those members in whose work you are interested.
The members of the cooperative assess the quality of the work of anyone who applies to join the group or to exhibit within the shop. This provides you with a guarantee that the work is of good quality.
When you look around the shop you are not seeing the only products that you can purchase from us. Most of us ( though not all) are happy to work to commission. This means that you can have a unique engagement ring, special christening plate, a sweater in a different size or colour etc. If you are interested in commissioning work from one of the members then ask the person on duty in the shop how to proceed.
If you shop with us you will be supporting a rather special democratic enterprise and can be certain that what you buy has been made locally with skill and care.
Shepton Mallet is set in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Unlike its sister towns, Wells and Glastonbury, it has always been a working town and many of its buildings reflect this heritage.
In a previous life the shop was a saddlers and this tradition of hand-crafted work is continued in One Craft Gallery showcasing a wide range of creative and decorative pieces including ceramics, jewellery, knitwear, glass, printmaking and painting. One Craft Gallery is situated in a Grade II listed building looking on to the market place which boasts a market cross and a 'shamble' dating from the 15th century. The local church of St. Peter and St. Paul at the back of the square has a fine example of a 'wagon' roof.
Guest exhibitors will supplement the wide range of products on display on a regular basis.
There is temporary parking right outside and good long term parking nearby.
